Crewe, in South Cheshire, was historically one of the engineering centres of the British railway industry. Crewe was originally founded in 1841 to provide homes for the employees of the nearby railway works, after which the town was named.
Until 2002, Crewe was also well known as the manufacturing home of Rolls Royce cars. Today the situation is a little different, but Crewe’s Pym Lane factory does now have the distinction of being the major manufacturing location for Bentley cars.
Crewe’s railway station is unsurprisingly one of the largest in the north-west of England and provides the 70,000 residents of the town with direct services to London. Manchester and several other major cities.
Crewe is also well served by the road network, with the M6 less than 10 miles from the city. Crewe’s van hire companies offer a good range of choice, typically including vans such as:
- Medium / short wheelbase vans – e.g. Ford Transit, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
- Small vans – e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
- Large / long wheelbase vans – e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master, LDV Maxus
- Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
