Police serve search warrant at northeast Indianapolis apartment
A 21-year-old man who lives in the apartment where police served a search warrant Thursday says it was all a misunderstanding.
The search happened at an apartment on Brendon Way Drive off E. 56th Street Thursday evening.
Did they take anything as evidence? Eyewitness News asked the 21-year-old man, Alonzo.
Probably, he replied.
It’s not clear what evidence police seized and exactly what led them from the Blackburns’ west side house to the apartment complex near I-465.
I really don’t know exactly what they came for, but they came, took us in investigation and that was it. Let us go, Alonzo said.
Police would be looking for evidence, including clothing, that might match the suspect seen on security video walking away from the Blackburns’ home after the murder and seen behind the wheel of a getaway car.
Alonzo downplayed the search at his apartment, saying police probably had a misunderstanding.
It’s embarrassing. It’s embarrassing a lot. Like I said, that I got in the middle of this, I don’t know how, but hopefully it’s all situated and hopefully they found the right people, he said.
